SIGNS OF SPRING: They may not be pretty, but they exist

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

It's the end of March and Minnesotans are in a desperate search for signs of spring. No, they may not be pretty, but Fox 9's Karen Scullin discovers those signs are indeed out there!

From idle snow plows, a different, welcomed form of precipitation, brown snow piles, birds chirping, the sweet smell of dirt, a Minnesota spring doesn't start with tulips and sunshine, but it has to start with something.

Another sign of spring? Allergies. While symptoms may not strike yet, pharmacists recommend taking your allergy medication about two weeks before the pollen flies.

What are some of your favorite -- or not so favorite -- telltale signs that winter is behind us? Head to the Fox 9 Facebook page and let us know.
