Group offers free weddings for couples dealing with serious illness

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - It's a story that starts like that of so many childhood sweethearts, without a clue or care of where life will take you. Fast forward 25 years and Tiffany and David Julia -- and their 19-year-old son -- have endured more than most, including a life-altering diagnosis.

With a smile planted firmly on her face, Tiffany shared with us, how she went from living her life to fighting for it, one day at a time. A lump she felt turned out to be breast cancer that metastasized into stage-four bone cancer.

She's endured chemo, radiation, and a double a mastectomy all the while wishing for a little peace and happiness.

Lindsay Landmann is the president of Wish Upon a Wedding New York, a chapter of a national organization which grants full weddings free of charge to couples with serious medical issues. She says she was inspired by Tiffany and David's application. She says her organization does complete weddings for up to 50 guests with a wedding planner, a photographer, a videographer, a caterer, a venue, and of course a dress.

The Julias, whose wedding back in 2000 was a quickie at the courthouse, are her latest recipients. For first time in a long time Tiffany is counting the days until something beautiful happens instead of another dose of treatment.

For a couple facing an uncertain future, they remind us all to take each day as it comes to love and cherish in sickness and in health.

A man dressed as Spider-Man was arraigned on charges he punched a police officer who told him to stop harassing tourists in Time Square. Junior Bishop, 25, faces charges of assault, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Police say the officer interceded after Bishop demanded at least $5 from a woman he posed for a picture with, instead of the $1 she offered.
