MESA, Ariz. -

Some computers were stolen during a burglary, but this isn't a typical case.  The stolen computers had priceless research that's very important to an Arizona State University professor.

Police say this burglary happened between March 13 and March 14.

It isn't just stealing the computers that was so bad, it was making off with the academic research and personal sentimental photos and family memories on these computers.

Milagros Zingoni is an assistant professor at ASU's design school.  All the work that goes into the designs, drawings, 200,000 photos and journal entries were kept in a Dell laptop stolen from her home.

"Basically my entire life since I moved to the U.S.  The last 10 years of research, classes, assignments, everything," she said.

Zingoni had backed it up on an external hard drive, which was also stolen, along with her husband's Apple laptop.

It wasn't just school stuff, but precious personal memories of their children.

"Photos of my pregnancies, videos.. they learn to walk.. I have nothing."

Police believe not long after the burglary, a young man in a white shirt and tan pants took one of the stolen computers to the Apple store at the Chandler mall.  He'd scheduled an appointment under the name "Manuel Mendoza."  He was trying to get information to unlock it, but didn't get it.

He left the mall in a silver Chrysler 300.  Take a look at the photo.  Do you know him?

If you have any information about this case, call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.

Zingoni says even if she only gets the external hard drive back, at least she would have that research and those precious memories again.

If you're the guy in the white shirt and tan pants and you have any sense of honor or shame, you'll find a way to get these back to the police to make things right.
