86-Year-Old Woman Hugs Red Cross Blood Donors

Posted: Updated:

Annaliese Griffin gives a hug to every selfless person who donates blood to the Red cross.

The hepatitis carrier cannot donate blood, but is devoted to the kindness of the strangers who do.

"Blood donors are extreme wonderful people. I would say 99.99% absolutely wonderful. And, they do something they don't get paid for," said Griffin. "They just hold me and say 'I wish you would be my mother.' And, it always makes me feel like crying."

Griffin says she is paying the Red Cross back for the great favor they did for her many years ago. The Red Cross flew Griffin's son to Memphis, T.N. and drove him the extra 90 miles to her house.

The Red Cross and the donors refer to Griffin as "The Hugger."
