Andrew Ward, the man accused of killing his 12-year-old stepbrother last month, is now suspected of murdering his cell mate in the Lower Buckeye Jail.

This happened Wednesday around 7:30 p.m.  Authorities say detention officers on a security walk were notified by inmates that a fight had occurred inside the locked cell where 33-year-old Douglas Walker and Ward, 26, had been housed together for thee weeks.

Officers say Walker had been beaten, stabbed with a golf pencil and peanut butter was smeared on his head.  Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene and later determined that his breathing was obstructed by a plastic bag placed in his nose and throat.

Ward was questioned and according to Maricopa County Sheriff's detectives, he immediately admitted to choking and beating Walker -- and he had no regrets for the attack.

Ward has been in custody since March 12 after allegedly killing 12-year-old Austin Tapia in their Phoenix home.  Investigators say Ward confessed to stabbing Tapia and he didn't show any emotion hours after confessing to killing his brother.

Prosecutors called Ward a serious threat to the community. "The defendant in this case killed his little brother for no other reason than apparently I just felt like killing," said a prosecutor.

Per MCSO, prior to the March arrest, Ward had been in jail on 11 different occasions since 2006 with no major disciplinary problems or notable institutional history.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said he is reviewing whether to remove plastic bags from the inmates. Arpaio said that they do not have space to place murder suspects in individual cells.

Walker had been in custody since November 2013 for armed robbery and kidnapping.
