ECORSE, Mich. (WJBK) - Police say a worker has died after a crane fell at a U.S. Steel facility in Ecorse.

Police in Ecorse say the accident happened about 5:45 a.m. Friday at the Great Lakes Steel facility. No other injuries are reported.

The family of the victim, 36-year-old Chris Casto, tells FOX 2's Robin Schwartz he was a hard-working man who had been working with cranes since he was 18 years old. He was a husband and father of three children.

Family and fellow employees are still waiting to hear what went wrong. Photos obtained by FOX 2 show the crane's treads leaning over.

U.S. Steel said in a statement that the operator worked for Connelly Crane, a contractor. Family says he worked there with his father.

The death is under investigation.

This is the second incident at U.S. Steel Great Lakes Works in just eight days. A giant pipe collapsed on the roof of a building March 27.

Also, back in December, a worker died in an explosion and fire that also injured two others.
