The University of Minnesota said 8 of the 19 people arrested in Dinkytown on Saturday night were students.

PHOTOS: 19 arrests made after Gopher loss

Following the Gophers' 7-4 loss to Union College in the men's hockey national championship game, a force of 300 uniformed police officers -- some with riot gear, others on horseback -- kept control, and within an hour disassembled the crowd.

The police presence squashed any thoughts of a 2003 repeat, when only 80 officers patrolled the streets of Dinkytown.

MUGSHOTS: 4 booked on Saturday in Dinkytown

Hundreds of students and fans flooded the streets of Dinkytown after the Gophers' semifinal win Thursday night. It was an overwhelmingly peaceful crowd, but some people were jumping on police cars, setting fires and throwing bottles and objects at police. Two officers were taken to HCMC with injuries.

After a crowd of around 250 people gathered at 14th Street and 4th Avenue, police forced the crowd to move along, taking any pack mentality with it.
