MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

This Monday night into Tuesday morning will start off a 4-part celestial event. People in the United States will see 4 total lunar eclipses in the next 2 years, an uncommon event that will happen only 8 times this century.

This cycle begins late Monday night, followed by events on Oct. 8, 2014, April 4, 2015 and Sept. 28, 2015.

This Monday night we will see the moon slip into the shadow of the Earth. This lunar Eclipse will take on a special hue as the moon passes through the red sunset part of the Earth's shadow.

Those brilliant red sunsets we see will in a way be transposed to the moon during Monday Night's Celestial event. This so called "Blood Moon", will appear reddish in color when the eclipse peaks at 2:06 am Tuesday morning.

Below is a timeline of what to expect this Monday night.

Mother Nature will even cut us a break with a mostly clear sky for Monday evening here in the Upper Midwest. It may not be the warmest of nights but at least we will be clear.

I hope you can get out and enjoy the nice break in the weather and witness this latest show from above. It not only been an active winter, but and active celestial stage over the past several months. Take some pics, we would love to see them.

We would love to see your weather photos! Email them to Photos@Fox9.com
