The Lake County Sheriff's Office says deputies shot an armed man in Leesburg Tuesday morning.
Deputies say at around 12:53am they received a call from a resident on Ocklawaha Drive in the Bassville Park area of Leesburg who said a man was threatening to commit suicide.
Deputies say as they arrived on scene they were confronted by Lynn Owen Burnett who was wielding a gun. Officials say they attempted to talk to Burnett but he leveled his firearm at deputies and they were forced to shoot.
Officials say the suspect was shot and taken to Ocala regional hospital.
No deputies were injured.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says it will investigate the incident and the deputies involved in the shooting will be placed on paid leave pending the investigation.
