CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

April showers brought a fresh coat of snow blankets in the Chicago area Tuesday, making for a sloppy and dangerous commute.

The snow that started Monday evening dropped a total 1.4 inches until 1 a.m. Tuesday at O'Hare International Airport, bringing the year's snow total to 82 inches, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Friedlein.

The temperature was 26 degrees at O'Hare International Airport about 7 a.m.

Many Chicagoans had to start their morning by scraping off their cars and reevaluating their outfits.

Many bikes, which are usually are sign of spring, were snow covered and icy Tuesday morning. Locals told FOX 32's Anita Padilla that they are "snover it." One man called the April snow "ridiculous."

The cold temperatures and snowfall made for an icy and dangerous commute. Officials responded to several crashes Tuesday morning. One crash on the Dan Ryan involved none cars.

No more snow is expected in the next week, and as April passes, snowfall becomes less likely, the weather service said.
