3 Ocala teens arrested for allegedly using drugs on school roof

OCALA, Fla. (WOGX FOX 51) -

The Marion County Sheriff's Office says three teenagers, 15-16 years old, were arrested on several charges after they were found on the roof school with drugs.

Officials say the teens were caught on the roof of Horizon Academy on Marion Oaks Drive in Ocala just after 1:00am Tuesday morning.

Deputies say they could see three people smoking what appeared to be some sort of "bong" and passing the object between each other and also a glow from a lighter.

"Apparently, the teenagers were on the rooftop to watch the lunar blood moon eclipse," said Judge Cochran, Marion County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer.

According to NASA, the full eclipse is known as a "blood moon" because the sunset red glow that rings the Earth as it blocks the light from the sun is cast upon the moon.

Investigators say at one point, the teenagers used a ladder to get down from the roof.

Deputies say they found a homemade marijuana smoking pipe and marijuana inside a plastic container.

All three juveniles will face the following misdemeanor charges: trespassing on school grounds; use or possession of drug paraphernalia; and marijuana possession not more than 20 grams.

"One of the juvenile defendants may have pocket-dialed a cell phone and called 911,"
