FERNDALE, Mich. (WJBK) - Ferndale police are asking for the public's help locating a suspect after an armed robbery was committed at a doctor's office. The suspect is also wanted for other dangerous crimes.

Police are looking for Ray Slayton. They learned of his identity from the public after sharing surveillance video and photos from the doctor's office.

Police say a masked gunman entered the office on Livernois Avenue March 24. He pointed a gun in a receptionist's face and demanded money.

When she said the office had no money, the gunman went into the examining room, pointed the weapon at the doctor's head and demanded money.

The doctor also said the office had no money, so the gunman grabbed a blank prescription pad and left.

Police say Slayton, the suspected gunman, is armed and dangerous.

He is a white male in his 40s with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall with a medium build. He is believed to be in the area of Hazel Park, Warren, and Detroit in the area near Dequindre.

Ferndale police LTV. Dave Wilson tells FOX 2's Amy Lange Slayton is on a "violent crime spree" right now and could be high on drugs. Wilson says Slayton is a career criminal, and even arrested Slayton once early in his career. He says Slayton threatened to break out of prison and track him down.

If you have any information about Slayton contact Ferndale Police or Crime Stoppers of Michigan.
