WINTER PARK, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

A Winter Park man who was shot in his own home by an intruder has died, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

Stephen Beglare, 44, was wounded during what authorities are calling a home invasion.  He was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Around 3 a.m., deputies were called to a home on Fieldcrest Avenue, just North of Aloma Avenue, after receiving a call about a disturbance and shots fired.  Officials said the Beglare's wife woke up to find her husband fighting off intruders.

The woman ran to a neighbor's home, and law enforcement was called.  She was not injured during the incident, deputies said.

The subjects involved fled the area. A description of the subjects is not available for release at the present time.

Investigators are now trying to determine what may have been taken from the home and how the intruders were able to get inside.

They do not believe this was a random crime.  Anyone with information is asked to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
