COCOA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) - A tourist visiting from Germany was bitten by a shark on Tuesday afternoon.  The 42-year-old man was rescued by lifeguards after suffering non-life-threatening injuries to his right foot while swimming at Cocoa Beach.

The encounter happened around 3:30 p.m. near Shepard Park.  The shark was described as being 3-and-a-half to four-and-a-half feet in length.

The Brevard County Beach Patrol cleared the waters immediately following the incident, and there is currently a double red flag posted at the beach, meaning no one is permitted to enter the water.
