Governor Rick Scott is in town for a big jobs announcement at the Verizon Finance Center in lake Mary.
The new building is expected to employ 750 workers, for an average salary of $55,000. Governor Scott said we can expect more news about more jobs today. He said it is all part of his push to bring high-paying jobs to Florida.
Governor Scott said Florida is competing for jobs across the country and across the world. Some incentives for business in Florida include lower taxes, less regulations, low crime, a strong education system and a low cost of living.
We asked Governor Scott about the indictment of Expressway Authority board member Scott Batterson, who was accused of bribery. He said it is very disappointing, since he looks for people who want to serve the community with a background in the field. But he said he will continue to look for qualified, competent people to appoint. Governor Scott said we should have high expectations for all of our leaders and officials.
