Jarzyk’s Family Issues Statement As Cause Of Death Is Pending

Posted: Updated:
Hoboken, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Hoboken police have identified the dead body that was found floating in the river near the Erie Lackawana Train Terminal around 5:30pm on Monday as missing Hoboken man Andrew Jarzyk.

Jarzyk was pulled out of the water and transported to the medical examiner’s office in Newark. The cause of death has not been determined at this time, but the autopsy has revealed that there was no trauma to the body and no indication of foul play.

Bob Strang is the CEO of Investigative Management Group and former special counsel for the Justice Department. He said in a situation like this the first thing law enforcement looks at is mental state to know if they are looking for a suspect or if this has to do with suicide. Secondly, they take a look at all the forensic information gathered including any technology that he used to determine what was going on in his life at the time. Then, police look at the last phone call that was made on his cell phone and talk to the last person he was seen with. Strang said that police will be looking for any additional surveillance footage to see if he stopped anywhere like a bank or a gas station.

Meanwhile, Andrew’s brother Steve put out a statement on the “help find Andrew” Facebook page that said:

"On behalf of my family, we would like to thank everyone for all of their continued support over the past 4 weeks…Andrew would be so proud…The coming days/weeks/months and even years will be painful."

Family and friends were very active on social media and the streets getting the word out about Andrew and doing whatever they could to try and find him.
