No such thing as "healthy obesity"

Posted: Updated:
A study has found there is no such thing as “healthy obesity.”

What are the consequences of being obese but still being perceived as being healthy?

Besides the obvious complications of diabetes and heart disease. Dr. Deborah Lauridsen of Physician Associates said people with obesity have to think of obstructive sleep apnea, which means not getting enough oxygen to the body.

Obese people must also consider fatty liver deposits, liver failure and bone and joint diseases because at that amount of weight the joints start to break down.

The body just cannot withstand all that extra weight.

We go in, we get our physical and the physician says your blood pressure looks good. But things are not always as they seem. Your primary health physician can be your life-saver.

They can help you modify your diet and exercise. Your BMI can be misleading. Even if you’re skinny, you can start to build plaque in your arteries, and it’s something you need to look out for.

Typically men and women who are healthy need to get a checkup every year. At least on an annual basis.

Make that appointment, it’s important.
