APS workers call for head of Nutrition Dept. to resign
ATLANTA, Ga. -
Atlanta Public Schools (APS) and Sodexo food service workers are calling for the resignation of APS Nutrition Department Director Dr. Marilyn Hughes on Monday.
Both groups will have a chance to present their issues at the Atlanta Board of Education meeting on Monday at 6 p.m.
The workers say under the direction of Hughes, some Atlanta Public Schools have "filthy kitchens with rat and roach infestations, slime, expired food and broken equipment" and the workers want something done about these conditions.
The meeting will be held at 130 Trinity Avenue SW in Atlanta at the APS Central Office.
The group is asking that the Board terminate Dr. Hughes at the end of her contract on June 30.
