A series of loud booms was heard throughout the Tampa Bay area this morning, shaking homes and startling residents.
A majority of the reports came from Pasco County, where officials say they believe it was related to a military exercise out in the Gulf of Mexico. They had no further information on it.
Many FOX 13 viewers called to our newsroom and reached out on social media, with some saying the boom rattled their home.
It seems it was heard all over. We've had reports from Safety Harbor, Brandon, Holiday, Spring Hill, and even as far as Lakeland.
FOX 13 checked with the USGS seismograph, which did not register anything this morning.
