For Mother's Day, give your mom the gift of good health!
Registered dietitian Dawn Napoli shared some food ideas you can make for your mom at home that she can enjoy and that is actually good for her.
Napoli said indulging in chocolate and red wine is great because of the antioxidants found in them. If your mom is more interested in baked goods, try to find or make ones with nuts or dried fruit to benefit from omega 3's.
She also suggested making your mom a get-fit basket, personalized with a snack bag, tea, water bottle and workout gear.
Instead of going out to eat, Napoli recommended making a healthy salad with spinach, strawberries and edemame along with a lentil soup and grilled portabella mushroom sandwich. She said a great dessert is a chocolate avocado pudding, made in the blender with cocoa powder, vanilla and avocado.
