How well do you know your friends on Facebook? Could you possibly have online predators or sex offenders on your list? How that promises to track down the sex offenders on your Facebook. It compares the names of your friends with those on the sex offender registry list. The app is called Friend Verifier. It’s on Facebook and it’s easy to use. When you click scan, it starts checking your friend’s list and the list of those requesting your friendship. After a few seconds, you can watch the names pop up. If they come up under a yellow banner, their name matches the name of a sex offender. Orange means their name and location are a match. If you have a friend with a red banner, their name, location and birthday match an offender. You should keep in mind that some names are common. So, if you have friends that show up on the list, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are sex offenders. You need to click on the match to see more details. You’ll get the mug-shot and a lot more information including the sexual offense. Not everyone approves of the app. Some people feel it’s an invasion of privacy. They say if they want to investigate their friends, they’ll do it themselves. Others welcome the help, especially those with kids online. So far, the makers of the app say more than two million people have already verified their friends.
