Patient says doctor talked him into unnecessary surgery

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - A Munster, Ind. cardiologist is being sued by two former patients.

Two of Arvind Gandhi's former patients accuse the doctor of medical negligence, negligent credentialing and breach of contract.

One of the patients claims when he was just 25 years old, the doctor persuaded him to have unnecessary surgery to implants a cardiac defibrillator.

"My biggest issue is I had defective parts implanted in me. I feel that he was aware some of these were defective when he implanted them in me," the man said.

Now, he says the device that was implanted has defective parts and doesn't know when it may give out.

"I don't want him to do this to anyone else," the man said.

The attorney for doctor Gandhi is not issuing a comment about the case.

Community Hospital in Munster had been named a defendant.
