Denver Broncos draft former Peachtree Ridge star

ATLANTA - From High Five Friday nights to NFL Sundays, a former Atlanta high school star is preparing for his new life after being drafted into the National Football League.

Former Peachtree Ridge star Bradley Roby was drafted in the first round of the NFL draft by the Denver Broncos on Thursday.

Roby said his life has been quite the whirlwind since his name was called. Since Thursday night's pick, Roby’s schedule has been packed.

“The next morning I went to Denver. I went there, checked out the facility, the weight room, did a bunch of media, press conferences and I met John Elway,” said Roby.

After visiting the Broncos’ facility Roby returned home to Atlanta to celebrate with his family before leaving again for Denver. Even with the whirlwind of excitement, Roby did not forget to treat his mom for Mother’s Day.

“You have to save some of it for your mom, especially for now. I definitely got something nice planned for my mom,” said Roby.

Roby’s mom said she was proud of his style during the draft. Roby said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told him he was the best dressed draftee at Radio City Music Hall.

For Roby it is not all about looks, the star cornerback plans on contributing to his new team.

Roby is heading to the Denver Broncos team that played in the Super Bowl last year and has huge holes at the cornerback position.

“They just went to a Super Bowl, they are a great team and most likely headed back to the Super Bowl,” said Roby. “To get the opportunity as a rookie is huge, some guys go their whole career without getting an opportunity like this.”
