Orlando officer attacked by 2 dogs

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) - An Orlando police officer is recovering after authorities say he was bitten by two dogs on Monday.

Police say two officers were responding to a disturbance call at the Estates at Park Central Apartments on Grand Central Parkway in Orlando when the unidentified officer was attacked by two dogs, described as pit bulls.

"The officer sustained bites and scratches and was forced to shoot," said Sgt. James Young with the Orlando Police Department.  "One dog received a gunshot wound and was taken to an animal hospital. The other dog ran away."

The officer is being treated for his injuries.
