PHOTOS: Downtown East development underway in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Work begins on land around the new Vikings stadium on Tuesday that encompasses five city blocks in downtown Minneapolis.

The $400 million Downtown East Project, run by Minneapolis-based Ryan Companies, will build apartments, office space and a park that serves as the stadium’s front yard. The development will be connected via the Minneapolis skyway system. The project is expected to be complete in spring of 2016 -- three months before the stadium is done.
