Cleanup begins after dozens of trees fall in Ann Arbor

Posted: Updated:
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WJBK) - Strong winds from another round of storms across southeast Michigan have toppled over trees in Ann Arbor.

SkyFOX flew over the wreckage in several neighborhoods.

In some areas the trees landed on parts of homes. Others left branches and limbs scattered across roadways. No injuries were reported.

FOX 2's Maurielle Lue reports the winds were clocked in at 65 mph. Hurricane force winds start at 74 mph.

Officials tell Lue the city will cut down and remove trees on city property and homeowners will be responsible for the ones on private property. They are reminding those around downed trees to stay clear if they are entangled with power lines.

At the height of the storm DTE Energy said approximately 10,000 people were without power. Later Tuesday night about 5,000 people were still without power, mainly in Washtenaw County.

Many counties throughout southeast Michigan were under a Thunderstorm Warning Tuesday afternoon.

Severe weather rolled through Monday, also. Some counties were under a Tornado Warning.
