Head Of Vatican Council Visits Philadelphia Sites

Posted: Updated:

Philadelphia- Vatican officials checked out Philadelphia on Tuesday, ahead of the World Meeting of Families, taking place in less than a year and a half.

A whirl-wind tour for a world-class event as anticipation is building that the pope himself may attend.

Flanked by Governor Corbett, Mayor Nutter and Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput, the head of the Vatican council  planning the meeting, hit the hot spots of Philadelphia history, culture, and scenery.

Archbishop Vicenzo Paglia touched the Liberty Bell.

He was also serenaded by a choir that just happened to be in the Visitor's Center, and he walked the "Rocky Steps" at the art museum.

He said the Philadelphia story tells it all.

Chaput says he's personally convinced Pope Francis will come here for the World meeting of families in September 2015.

However, no official announcement has been made.
