KINGSTOWN, R.I. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A local teenager made a bet with his teacher to try to get out of a final exam. Although he won the bet, he still has to take the test.
High school senior Patrick Limoges started the trend in Kingstown. He made a bet with his math teacher to get out of his final exam. If he could get the bet retweeted 50,000 times, his teacher was going to let him out of the test. Well, he reached his goal in 10 hours.
“I saw it then I was like well why can’t I do that?” he asked.
Junior Jake Porter made the same proposal to his chemistry teacher, but wanted the whole class to have the opportunity to skip the final. The teacher agreed, but said he would need 75,000 retweets to win that bet. He also won the bet, but still has to take the final. He was able to negotiate with the teacher, who is now bringing the students a box of donuts.
Jake’s mom thinks it’s great that her son has enough confidence to make the bet.
“In the grand scheme of life, one exam, you know,” Jake's mom said.
FOX 25 reached out to the teachers and principal of the school, but the principal declined to comment.
