The Panthers' defensive end Greg Hardy posted bond Wednesday morning after a judge ordered a $17,000 bond in his domestic violence case. He left jail just before noon Wednesday.

Judge Rebecca Tin ordered a $15,000 secured bond for Hardy's charge of assault on a female. She ordered a second bond for $2,000 for the communicating threats charge. Judge Tin also ordered Hardy go to 3 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings since he was drunk the night of the incident.

In court, Judge Tin acknowledged bruising and swelling on the victim, Nicole Holder, Hardy's girlfriend, and said the court was afraid for her.

Hardy's lawyer, Chris Fialko, said in court that the victim has contacted Hardy several times since the incident. Fialko said Hardy was the one who called 911 the night of the incident because she wouldn't leave his home.

Attorney Stephen Goodwin, who is representing Holder, said his client's arm is in a sling with an elbow injury.

Charlotte Mecklenburg police charged Hardy Tuesday with assault on a female and communicating threats. His girlfriend told police that he threatened her and assaulted her at his home early Tuesday morning.

According to the incident report, the victim is a 24 year old woman. She had scratches and bruises, but refused treatment.

Hardy turned himself in Tuesday afternoon after police issued warrants for his arrest.

Hardy, whose nickname is Da Kraken, was drafted in the 6th round of the NFL draft in 2010. The Panthers released a short statement about his arrest.

“We are very disappointed to learn of the allegations involving Greg and are concerned for all parties as we continue to investigate.”

Hardy's agent has no comment.
