INKSTER, Mich. (WJBK) - Two people were injured when a home invasion turned into a violent shootout in Inkster Thursday afternoon.

It happened around Glenwood and Eastern streets. Witnesses tell FOX 2's Erika Erickson they saw a man running from a home. He appeared to have been shot and eventually collapsed in the street.

Police say the incident started as an attempted home invasion but the homeowner apparently fought back.

Neighbors say they heard at least 13 shots being fired.

The homeowner and the suspect were both taken to the hospital.
