CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall has signed a three-year, $30-million contract extension with the team, the club announced on Monday.

The 30-year-old Marshall had a year left on his current contract. Marshall announced on his Twitter account that he had reached an agreement with the Bears which would see him stay with the team through the 2017 season.

The five-time Pro Bowler joined the Bears in 2012 in a trade with the Miami Dolphins. In his two seasons with the team, Marshall has been named to the Pro Bowl both years, where he ranked second in the league in receptions (218), fourth in receiving yards (2,803), fifth in touchdown receptions (25) and tied for second in 100-yard receiving games (13). Marshall caught 100 passes for 1,295 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2013.

He is one of only three players in franchise history with 1,000-yard receiving yards in back-to-back seasons, joining Curtis Conway (1995-96) and Marty Booker  (2001-02).
