Police have charged the owner of a high-performance sports car that crashed and was left burning near the George Washington Bridge.

Port Authority Police spokesman Joe Pentangelo says the Lamborghini was found on fire and unoccupied in the westbound lanes near the bridge toll plaza in Fort Lee early Monday. The vehicle showed signs of a crash and sustained extensive fire damage.

Cops traced the car to Deankarte Ditchfield-Agboh, 33, of Palisades Park, and charged him with abandonment of a vehicle and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, the AP reported.

Todd Greene saw the accident.

He posted on his Facebook page:  "The guy passed me when I first got on the bridge, next thing I know I was running over lamborgini parts in the road."

He described the driver as “a bald black guy” and said “a skinny black girl was trying to open the driver’s door to get the man out when I drove past.”

The vehicle was identified as a Lamborghini Diablo. The were made by the Italian sports car company from 1990 to 2001 and can cost from $150,000 to $200,000.

It was the first Lamborghini capable of attaining a top speed in excess of 200 miles per hour.
