AURORA, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two people, including a 16-year-old boy, were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash late Wednesday morning in west suburban Aurora.

A 16-year-old North Aurora boy was driving a 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara northbound on Randall Road when he lost control of the vehicle, went into the southbound lane, and hit a 2005 Toyota Camry driven by a 69-year-old Aurora woman, according to Aurora spokesman Dan Ferrelli.

The car and minivan crashed head-on crash in the 1700 block of North Randall, between Sullivan Road and Sequoia Drive at 11:55 a.m., Ferrell said, and the force of the crash caused the minivan to roll over.

Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles, and were taken to a hospital with serious injuries, Ferrelli said.

There were no passengers in either vehicle and no signs of drugs or alcohol, according to police. The 16-year-old was cited for lack of insurance and improper lane usage, Ferrelli said.

Randall Road was closed to traffic for about 4 1/2 hours.
