Plane makes hard landing in Lake Ashby in New Smyrna Beach

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) - A seaplane made a hard landing in a lake in New Smyrna Beach at 8:26 a.m.  A spokesperson with the Volusia County Fire Department said the pilot was trying to land in Lake Ashby located at 4150 Boy Scout Camp Road.  However, right before the landing something went wrong and the pilot had to make a hard landing.

Officials said the pilot ended up nose diving into the water.  Two people were on the plane when it happened, but no one was hurt. 

Everyone was able to make it out of the plane safely.
