SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
The bond has been set for two parents who are accused of child neglect. Both Glorivy Rodriguez and Fernando Palomino's bond was set at $2,000 each.
The couple was arrested Sunday after Sanford Police said they went out and left their 8-month-old child home alone. Police said the parents didn't even bother to lock the door when they left the home, and that is how their neighbor, who's also the child's aunt was able to get inside the home where she found the child sleeping.
According to the arrest report, Palomino said he thought the baby’s aunt was watching the the child, but she was the one who called the police. Detectives said that she told them that she waited around for hours for the parents to return before calling them.
Sanford Police said when they found the father, he told them he was out drinking tequila bar before he passed out on a friend's couch.
They eventually tracked down the mother, Glorivy Rodriguez, walking along Tuskawila Road in Winter Springs just before seven o’clock Sunday morning.
It’s not clear what she had been doing all night. Sanford Police said neither parent seemed very concerned about their son’s well-being.
Sunday both parents were booked into the Seminole County Jail on child neglect charges. Now the baby and two other children are in Child Protective Services’custody.
A judge will decide who will care for the children at a dependency hearing this week. Both parents are expected to go in front of a judge for their first appearance sometime on Monday.
