ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Orlando police officers have made an arrest in the murder of a man shot outside Winnie Palmer Hospital last month. They didn't have to go far to find him.
Officers say 19-year-old Brixten Dyer was already in jail on unrelated charges when they discovered he was involved in the deadly shooting. Investigators say Dyer has been held in jail on no bond, since June 6, due to unrelated robberies.
It was back on May 18, when officers say 20-year-old Alex Mazzan was gunned down. Alex and a friend had just visited someone at the hospital and were walking back to their car on Lucerne Terrace when a white Nissan pulled up and shot Alex to death. Officers say Dyer is the suspect in his homicide.
However, the victim's girlfriend, Briana Skiles, says there were others in the car that should also be held responsible, even if they weren't the ones who pulled the trigger.
"I'm hoping they all get charged in this," she says.
Alex's sister, Kelli Severt, agrees.
"It was just random and something that happened. It makes me ridiculously angry, because there was no fight, there was nothing involved. People don't fight anymore, they just pull guns. "
Officers say they're working with prosecutors regarding official charges in this homicide.
