ROCKLEDGE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Police say an infant died after being left in a hot pick up truck in Brevard County Monday. Co-workers of the man told police at 4:50 p.m. they heard the father screaming.
He had apparently opened the door and found the the 9-month-old little girl inside in her car seat. They called 9-1-1 and Rockledge Police and paramedics tried to resuscitate the child, however she didn't make it.
She was transported to Wuesthoff Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Police spokeswoman Lt. Donna Seyferth says the child may have been left inside the truck for several hours and all of the windows were up.
"Unfortunately, it's just it's beyond tragic, and right now you've got a family that's just overwhelmed and we're just gonna try to work through it with as much sensitivity but thoroughness as we can," Lt. Seyferth said.
Her father was at work at a Rockledge shopping plaza when she was left in the vehicle. Rockledge Police said the baby's death does appear to be an accident.
