ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) - A tractor trailer crash on the Florida Turnpike has killed at least two people, that's according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP reports that the crash involving the 18-wheelers happened Tuesday morning around 5:06 a.m. on the Turnpike just before SR 50 in Orange County.  This is the Winter Garden area.

Kim Montes, a spokesperson for FHP told FOX 35 the driver of the first truck told investigators that he pulled onto the emergency lane to check a possible tire issue, but as he pulled back onto the road, another tractor-trailer -- which was hauling flowers -- stuck the rear of the first truck.

The cab tore open upon impact and the driver and passenger were ejected onto the roadway.  Both died at the scene.

The driver of the first semi ruck suffered minor injuries.  The crash shut down three of the northbound lanes for hours, but that traffic is flowing as normal now.
