EATONVILLE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
The Eatonville Home Town Suites, shut down because of poor living conditions, is back open.
Some of the 70 residents who were told to pack up and leave earlier this year are preparing to move back into their homes. Owner and former Eatonville mayor, Anthony Grant, put a lot of work into getting the place up and running.
"We upgraded our hot water system, we placed a small roof over our storage room, and everything else was generally cosmetic repairs that I decided to do on my own," he said.
The complex was closed in April after it was ruled to be a "high-risk safety hazard."
After making the necessary changes, Grant said inspectors visited the apartment complex and gave it a passing grade.
"They inspected the, well they inspected along the process, but their final inspection was Friday morning and they passed everything".
Six rooms have been cleared to rent. Code enforcement officials still need to sign off on the others.
