A driver rescued a toddler after he found the child crawling within inches of a  busy highway!  Police in Georgia say if it was not for a good Samaritan being at the right place at the right time things could have turned tragic.

Police said the toddler crawled a quarter mile from her home through thick, thorny brush and down a 10 foot embankment before making it to the highway.  And they said she nearly reached highway 72 near Athens before Bryant Collins drove along and saw her.  He immediately called 9-1-1.

Collins said he was so shocked that he stopped right there in the middle of the road and scooped-up the one year old!  Fortunately, the little girl is okay she only had a few bug bites.
The girl's parents told police they left the little girl with her older siblings.  Right now, the dad is charged with child cruelty, reckless conduct and obstruction of justice because of the way deputies say he behaved at the scene.
The mother may also be charged.
