Boy, 16, dies one day after West Side shooting

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A 16-year-old boy died Wednesday evening, one day after he was shot in the head in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The teen was shot at 5:18 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of North Keeler Avenue, police said.

The boy has been identified as Lafayette Walton, of the 2400 block of West Grenshaw Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:52 p.m. Wednesday, the medical examiner’s office said.

The boy is a documented gang member, according to a police source.
