Line Item Veto to Benefit New Jersey?

Posted: Updated:
Trenton, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

Governor Chris Christie has used his line item on the budget he received from the Democratic Legislature and he shared that the new budget may inflict some pain.

He vetoed taxes on businesses and on millionaires, and after winning a lawsuit, he decided to drastically limit payments on the pension plan.

Seth Hahn, Communications Workers of America spokesman, explained his views on Christie’s new budget.

“The first thing is the way Governor Christie balanced the budget is just deciding not to pay his bills, if you rack up a credit card debt, and don’t pay your bills, bad things happen to you, the same thing is happening here. Since 2011 when they passed the pension and benefit reform, workers are paying 30% more to get 30% less pension. The other side of that is supposed to be that the state is going to start making payments, you can’t say just kidding, we aren’t going to make those payments,” Hahn shared.

Matt Rooney, “Save Jersey” blog editor, also had something to share.

“Unions and their democrats that work for them in the legislature do not want to make a tough choice. They want to make New Jersey less hospitable to live and work by raising taxes, but they are not open to cutting anything, so unfortunately, until they do that, every year we are going to have this continuing problem that we cannot meet our pension pay,” Rooney said.

Christie is facing a lot of heat about his use of his line item veto, but was it something that had to be done?

StubHub is getting a lot of bad press, but the site is really the victim here. The hackers have hacked accounts from other sites, and then used that information to get into the StubHub accounts.
