Town appoints first female African American Mayor in Bergen County history
During a reorganization meeting Tuesday, the Teaneck town council made Bergen County history.
The council voted unanimously to appoint Lizette Parker mayor, making her the first African American female mayor not only in Teaneck's history, but in Bergen County's, NorthJersey.com reported.
Parker is a two-term councilwoman who won a municipal election this May, the report said. Before taking the helm during the rest of Teaneck's council meeting this week, Parker commented on her historic appointment.
