Lassie: Safety Tips For Animals On The Fourth of July

Posted: Updated:

Lassie comes to Good Day LA and does her first weather report with Maria Quiban.

Lassie also brings her friend Marc Peralta from Best Friends Animal Society to go over a few tips on how to keep your pets safe during the 4th of July.

While Independence day is a time for celebration for people, all the noise from fireworks can really scare pets.

Marc says you should keep your pets indoors during fireworks; keep them away from fireworks if you have them at home; and make sure your pets are microchipped and have their ID tags on their collars.

Marc also says that if your pet does go missing, go directly to the shelters and look for your pet in person. Fourth of July is a very busy time for shelters, so calling and e-mailing is not as effective.

And, of course, Maria couldn't pass up a chance to take her picture with today's celebrity guest, so she took a selfie with Lassie!
