Make-A-Wish Foundation Makes Girl's Dream Come True

Posted: Updated:

Reston Va. A little girl battling brain cancer got her wish granted on her last day of chemotherapy.

Tara Sankner,9, has been fighting astrocytoma most of her life, but now she's heading off to swim with dolphins.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation threw a party to celebrate her upcoming trip to Hawaii.

She’s always wanted to swim with dolphins, and her parents say it will be a nice break from the cancer treatment.

"We wish that it was under other terms, Tara didn't have cancer, but it's just so nice that so many other people are willing to pitch in and do for Tara. It’s astronomical,” said Tara’s dad, Craig.

Tara could not be more excited about the upcoming trip.

"I'm very, very excited for my trip. And I get to go see the dolphins, and have a tour, and with the trained dolphins, and have another tour with the wild dolphin,” said Tara.

Tara will leave for Hawaii with her family at the end of July.
