Community Holds Vigil For Carjacking Crash Victims

Posted: Updated:

NORTH PHILADELPHIA-A vigil was held on Tuesday to honor the three children killed in a carjacking crash in the city's Tioga section on Friday.

On Tuesday, a judge denied bail to the two men now charged in their murders. Police say they have their confessions on tape.

The family of the 3 children, who were killed at the intersection on Friday, are set to arrive to the prayer vigil for the victims.

15-year-old Keiearra Williams, 10-year-old Thomas ReeD, and 7-year-old Terrance Moore were killed as a result of the carjacking accident. Their mother was also hit. She is still listed in critical condition.

"There was children involved, They were out doing an honest thing, They were out trying to do something for the Lord. Doing something right. It was just a senseless killing," said friend Ronny Amos.

For the first time we heard from family members of the victims at the vigil.

"Our hearts are completely broken, we can't believe this is our new reality this is our new reality a nightmare that won't end," said one family member.

Some of those family members spoke to a crowd of hundreds of neighbors and community members who turned out from all corners of the city to support them.

"We're re living it every moment. Words cannot explain what we are going through,” said sister Cassandra Alexander.

"She loved her children. Everywhere you see Keisha, you see her children," said sister-in-law Renee Thomas.

The community has started fund to help Keisha Williams’ family, including her 2 surviving daughters. They are now left without their siblings and their mother fighting for her life.

"It's a real tragic loss. We trying to get through this. It's still hard,” said uncle Antonio Moore.

When Moore was asked if she knew her children died, he said, “Not yet, she don't know anything yet. She's still in a coma right now."

Family members say the support has been overwhelming, from friends and complete strangers.

"I don't have any children so I love kids and I was touched by it. I don't know the family, but I felt it was my duty to come out,” said Tioga resident Tammy Bolton.

"We just thank everybody for all you warm love and support and prayers. Just keep lifting my family up in prayers because we need it,” said Thomas.

Former 76er Charles Barkely has stepped up and offered to pay for the funeral expenses for the children. The childrens' funeral is scheduled for Monday morning.
