Firefighters Take Down Suspected Carjacker

Posted: Updated:

SAN FRANCISCO, CA- A fire engine crew detained a suspected carjacker in San Francisco Wednesday morning.

The carjacker was taken down at about 10:30 a.m. after hitting several vehicles while driving near City Hall.

The suspect was driving a red truck that was stolen from a construction site.

The thief then hit several parked cars as he tried to outrun police.

He later jumped out of the vehicle and ran but luckily a nearby fire crew was there to detain him until police arrived.

"He was out of control," said firefighter Damian Orduna, "he came right to me. I made a good tackle."

Police say the suspect is in custody but has not yet been charged.
