ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
If you live in Orange County, you may be owed some money. There's thousands of dollars worth of unclaimed money and time is running out if you want to receive it.
Orange County Clerk of Courts Eddie Fernandez says there could be a check waiting for you, adding, "We have money that belongs to residents in Orange County, and we want to make sure it's paid."
There's a list online which is comprised of 43 pages with names of people who are owed money.
"Folks who came in and did a great civic duty as jurors for us and they never cashed their check. So that's one of the prevalent reasons why they remained uncashed."
The amount of money ranges from ten dollars to a couple of thousand dollars.
"We have about $110,000 available right now on our website, MyOrangeClerk.com, and there's about 2,000 names on the list on our website and folks should search the list see if they're names on it."
If your name is on the list it's important to act now, because in another month, that money won't be available anymore.
"On September 1st we have deliver those checks to the State of Florida and they'll never see their money again, so we want to make sure we get the word out and people get an opportunity to cash their checks."
Fernandez says it's a simple process to retrieve your money.
"Once they see their name all we have to do is confirm that's the person and if they are then it's just a matter of cashing their check."
