Cooling off in the summer with spicy foods

Posted: Updated:
(WJBK) - Contrary to popular belief, spicy foods are the best way to moderate your temperature and eventually cool down during the summer. This is due to what scientists call "gustatory facial sweating."

Essentially, the spicy foods that you are eating will make you sweat and the sweat becomes moisture on your face which will cool you off.

Think about it like this: traditionally hot places around the globe - South America, India, the Caribbean - eat spicy foods year-round.
