Lakeshia Jones, 34, a former teacher at Myers Middle School in Savannah, GA was fired after her nude pictures were leaked, but she says she is the victim. According to NY Daily News, Jones is not only suing her local school board, but a group of 14-year-old students as well.
It was reported that Jones gave her cell phone password to students in order for them to be able to call home if necessary. She told a local paper that during a business club meeting, the middle school students allegedly hacked into her cell phone and found her naked selfies after Jones left her cell phone unattended in her desk charging. The teenage girls then took pictures of them, sent them to their friends, and posted them online.
Jones is claiming that she did not hear about what happened until a month later when one of the students confessed. She is suing for wrongful termination and plans to press charges against the 14-year-old girls.
The Savannah-Chatham School Board has a different story.
District officials claim that they removed Jones from the middle school pending an investigation, and that she did not report to her new post for three weeks.
The school board claimed that Jones was insubordinate, did not report the incident right away, and took her own actions to find the culprits. They also believe that she was irresponsible with her phone and they voted to terminate her last week.
Jones has denied all claims and said the only thing she is guilty of is trusting that her students would respect her privacy.
“Whatever is in my phone is my business,” Jones told a local newspaper.
“There is nothing in the policy about what you can or cannot have in your phone.”
